Dr. Ayuba Fasasi was raised in Tumu in the Upper West Region of Ghana where he had his Primary and Junior Secondary School (JSS), present day Junior High School (JHS) education. After pursuing his ‘O’- and ‘A’-Levels in Nandom and Navrongo Secondary Schools respectively, he proceeded to University of Cape Coast (UCC) where he was awarded a Bsc (Hons) in Chemistry in the 1999-2000 academic year.
Prior to his PhD program, Dr. Fasasi worked at the Environmental Chemistry Division of the Water Research Institute (WRI) of Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Ghana, under the National Service Scheme. He also did a summer internship program with Ghana Water Company Limited whilst pursuing his undergraduate program in UCC.
After his national service, Dr. Fasasi went into teaching Chemistry, Core Science and Mathematics at both Senior High and Junior High School levels in Accra.
He then proceeded to pursue a PhD at the University of Idaho (UI) in USA (2005-2010) with a major in Analytical Chemistry. His research focus emphasized applications of Vibrational Spectroscopy. He worked under the auspices of Professor Peter R. Griffiths, an internationally renowned Chemist with an outstanding track record in this field. Ayuba Fasasi taught undergraduate chemistry classes and labs whilst in UI right from freshman to level 400 chemistry. He won the Cooley-Juve Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award in 2009.
Dr. Fasasi has published four papers and written three books.
Dr. Fasasi presently works as a post Doctoral Research Fellow in the field of Chemometrics with Professor Barry Lavine in Oklahoma State University.
